Alto Minho Folklore Festival in Viana do Castelo 14-20 July 2025

The International Folklore Festival Alto Minho has been held in Viana do Castelo (Portugal) since 1996. The theme of the festival is music and dance as a form of artistic expression.

Last year, folklore groups from Albania, Spain, France, Hungary, Paraguay, and Kenya came to the festival. The festival program includes a parade through the streets of the city, performances at various venues, and the study of traditional dances and songs of Portugal.

They say that the people of Viana have visited all corners of the world, and now these nooks and crannies come to Viana for a return visit.

The Alto Minho Festival will be held from July 14 to 20, 2025. This time, it is represented by a sweet and multinational lavradeira (farmer), who smiles and dances. In a cheerful dance, her lush skirt flies up and her legs in fishnet stockings and elegant shoes are exposed.

Don't miss the opportunity to dance the traditional Vira dance, the Minho dance, the most characteristic and popular Portuguese folk dance, one of the oldest Portuguese dances of Northern Portugal, which has become the hallmark of Portugal, on the streets of Viana do Castelo.
